Alys Beach Resource Center
The Alys Beach Resource Center is an interactive, self-guided tour that presents the nuances and specialties of Alys Beach’s home construction techniques and the community’s stewardship towards the local environment. The center is a freestanding exhibit hosting displays that showcase everything from the energy efficient building materials and hurricane resistant foundations to the paving and landscaping practices that protect the groundwater at Alys Beach. The Resource Center includes two interactive touch-screen kiosks with fullscreen HD video documenting the conservation of energy, water, marine life, plants, and wildlife. Three-dimensional displays incorporate objects such as replica bird eggs, a Snapping Turtle shell, hurricane-proof glass, and concrete roof tiles.
