Local Colors
Local Colors is website that documents a series of ethnographic interviews conducted in downtown Gainesville, Florida. The interviews explored what the concept of “local” means to different people.
Interviewees included a recent parolee, an unemployed carpenter, a librarian, police officer, a waitress and a college student. Each person’s response could be viewed individually or read in combination with the others highlighting the similarities and differences in each person’s perspective. Field notes related to each interview session including location, weather, time-of-day, and duration is recorded providing contextual information about each interview setting.
